Total Archery Challenge is the ultimate test of your bow, your technique, and your nerve. We set up your equipment, build your sight tapes with Labradar, and train you on a full 3D range out to 100+ yards so you show up ready to compete.
Archery Sarasota offers Total Archery Challenge (TAC) setup and training in Sarasota, FL at $100 per hour with a USA Archery Level 3 certified coach. TAC prep covers complete bow tuning, Labradar ballistic analysis, custom sight tapes for unknown-distance shooting, long-range 3D practice on our outdoor course at 100+ yards, angle compensation training, and mental shot process coaching.
TAC is widely regarded as the ultimate archery challenge, 3D targets at unknown distances across rugged terrain, with shots that can exceed 100 yards at steep angles. Most archers are not ready for it when they show up. We make sure you are.
Total Archery Challenge is a 3D archery competition held on real outdoor terrain , mountain courses, ridgelines, canyons, and timber. Targets are placed at completely unknown distances with no yardage markers. Shots can be five yards or they can be over 100 yards. You estimate, compensate for steep angles, and execute.
It is the closest thing to a real hunting situation that archery competition offers. Unlike indoor 3D or paper target shooting, TAC demands every skill you have: equipment precision, distance estimation, angle compensation, long-range accuracy, and the mental composure to execute a clean shot when the pressure is on.
It attracts both bowhunters testing their gear and skills, and competitive 3D archers chasing one of the most demanding events in the sport. Preparing for it requires a different level of readiness than most archers are used to.
Six skills separate archers who are ready for TAC from those who are not.
With no yardage markers, your sight tape is everything. It must be calibrated to your bow’s exact ballistics at every distance. A generic tape introduces error. A Labradar-verified tape does not.
No rangefinders. No markers. You read the terrain and the target and commit to a distance. We train this on our 3D range so it becomes a skill, not a guess.
Uphill and downhill shots require aiming at horizontal distance, not line-of-sight. Getting this wrong means shooting over the target. We train angle compensation until it is automatic.
Consistently placing arrows in the kill zone at 60, 80, or 100 yards requires a tuned bow, matched arrows, and a repeatable shot process. We build all three.
TAC exposes every weak point in your setup. Cam timing off by a fraction, arrows that don’t match your spine, a sight tape that drifts , all of it shows at distance. We eliminate those variables before you compete.
A long shot on a challenging target in front of other competitors creates real pressure. We train a controlled shot process so your execution holds when nerves and doubt show up.
Every TAC prep session follows this progression.
We start at the foundation. Cam timing, center shot, bare-shaft tuning, and broadhead tuning if needed. A bow that is not tuned will not group at long distance. TAC exposes every flaw in your setup, so we eliminate them before you get on the course.
TAC has no yardage markers, so your sight tape must be perfectly calibrated. We use Labradar Doppler radar to measure your arrow’s velocity at multiple distances downrange, then build custom sight tapes through Precision Cut Archery verified by that real-world data. This is the single biggest competitive advantage you can have going into a TAC event.
We put you on our outdoor 3D range with 20+ targets at unknown distances out to 100+ yards. You practice estimating distance, committing to a pin, and executing on realistic animal targets. This is where your sight tape gets verified and your confidence at distance gets built.
Steep uphill and downhill shots are where archers consistently miss on TAC courses. We train you to identify slope angles, calculate the correct horizontal distance, and adjust your aim before the shot is made. Angle shooting becomes a practiced skill, not a last-second adjustment.
TAC puts you under real pressure , long shots, challenging positions, other archers watching, and no certainty about the distance. We train a controlled shot process built around conscious decisions so your execution stays clean when the pressure builds. Confidence in your process is what separates consistent TAC shooters from everyone else.
Three things make Archery Sarasota specifically equipped for TAC preparation.
Labradar requires real distance to work. Most shops can’t use it. We have an outdoor range where we can measure your arrow’s actual ballistics at distance and build sight tapes that are verified, not estimated.
20+ 3D targets at unknown distances. The closest thing to a real TAC course you can train on in Florida. Unknown distances, realistic targets, and the same pressure of committing to a pin without a rangefinder.
TAC prep with a USA Archery Level 3 certified coach who works on both the equipment side and the mental side. One session covers tuning, sight tapes, shooting, and shot process, not just one piece of it.
Same flat rate as all our service work.
Covers everything in a session: bow tuning, Labradar analysis, custom sight tapes, long-range 3D practice, angle compensation training, and mental shot process coaching. One rate regardless of what we work on.
The number of sessions depends on your current level and how much range time you want before your event. Some archers arrive tuned and need mostly range time and sight tapes. Others need more foundational work first.
Standard builds $6 per arrow, tournament-grade $8 per arrow. TAC demands consistent arrows, spine matched, weight matched, and built right. You don’t have to buy shafts from us.
